My favorite conceptual element that didn't make it to the Times story: Host Jeremy Drake pledged to consume seven free drinks provided by sponsor Campari during the event's two hours. Yeah, he felt those, all right.
I do want to repudiate in the feeblest manner the editorial insertion of the word "gel" as a verb. My dictionary insists that this may occur only when one intends it to mean "become a gel." The proper choice would have been "jell."
