Readers wondering what happened to jazz coverage in LA Times can get a clue at International Review of Music. Longtime Times jazz reviewer Don Heckman's space has been essentially eliminated from the paper amid its orgy of limb-hacking. But Heckman and Casey Dolan (also let go a few months back, Dolan was one of the few writers with any sympathy for fusion) have started a site. It's got more jazz and out-rock reviews than the Times ever had space for, and you can also read Dolan's inside account of what went down at Los Angeles' Newspaper of Wreckord.
