Sat. Oct. 12 -- Arto Lindsay may not have been the first guy in New York to twist his tuning pegs all weird and zoom a slide around his strings back about '77, but thanks to Eno's "No New York" compilation, his band DNA was certainly one of the first anyone ever heard of; here he teams with Brazilian singer-guitarist Rodgrigo Amarante. RIP Jeff Silberman. My old colleague Jeff wrote for and edited a lot of publications, worked for labels and websites, moved his family around when the well dried up. But I remember him mainly from beer-soaked '80s Raiders games, and for his crappy bowling, and for his amazing impression of Alvin Lee. Through health difficulties and bad economies, he persevered with his upbeat attitude, unfailing competence and ridiculous sense of humor. May his spirit stick with us; we need it.
