Links: Online live performances part 2 (updated 6/5).

Thought I'd update my net picks with a few more options. I tuned in to an intimate concert on May 20 by avant bassist William Parker and his Caribbean-influenced pianist son Isaiah (favorite Q&A: "Who was Isaiah named for?" "His mother named him."). I also sampled much of Just Jazz's 3-hour retrospective a week ago -- although that was not a live stream as advertised, it was great to pick up on clips from the Mr. Music Head series, such as jams by artists such as Black Nile, Danny Janklow and Dwight Trible.

Just Jazz has many other performance clips here.

I watched some of the May 29 & 30 Slay at Home Metal and Arts Festival, the quality of which was generally high; it's still watchable here. The fest includes short performances by prog-metal bands I like such as Tessaract and Mantar, as well as a bunch of worthwhile groups I've never heard of. Donatable for a good cause.

On Sat. June 6 at 2pm PST, the stunt-oriented Norwegian band Shining (album: "Blackjazz") executes its high-energy brand of abstraction-laced metal in a live online concert from the famous Telemark heavy-water plant sabotaged by patriotic commandos during World War II. Ticket availability ($12) has been extended through Fri. June 5 here.

NO LONGER ACCESSIBLE: "Electric Ascension," a 2012 Coltrane tribute featuring the likes of ROVA Sax Quartet, Nels Cline, Fred Frith, Rob Mazurek and Hamid Drake, can be seen & heard for a limited time here.

The LAX-area bar Sam First has been presenting Solo Sessions by the likes of guitarist Anthony Wilson and pianist Josh Nelson. Look here for upcoming Saturday shows (June 6, bassist John Pattitucci) and for trackbacks to past netcasts.

The Baked Potato is streaming live fusion concerts. You can sit in for cheap here.

For the past couple of years, bassist Dave Ross has been a pioneer of streaming live L.A. concerts at The Jazz Salon, presenting blues/jazz singers such as the great Barbara Morrison, and bop-schooled stars such as trumpeter Nolan Shaheed. Look in for future options, and for replays of past shows, here.

Not a stream but an opportunity to support a valuable local venue: Zebulon is offering a compilation of tracks recorded live at the club for $25 here.
