July 31, 8pm: amazing electric bassist Steuart Liebig opens solo for a quartet featuring himself plus the winds, cornet and drums of Sean Sondregger, Dan Clucas and Joe Berardi. These guys make alchemy.

Westwood's Hammer Museum offers excellent FREE open-air jazz concerts on summer Thursdays. Thurs. Aug. 3: mind-bending saxist Hafez Modirzadeh Quartet. Thurs. Open Gate Theater has moved its long-running and invaluable avant concert series from the Eagle Rock Cultural Center mostly to the Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church, 301 N.
